In many parts of the world, the end of the summer means the end of fun and freedom, but in Mont-Tremblant, our mountain village is just starting to wake up as we move ever closer to ski season. The calendar months may still say July, August, and September, but in our hearts we are already sipping that first pumpkin spice latte, we have pictured how wonderful the new sweaters advertised online will look on our bodies, and we have begun to plan our visit to the end of summer events that take place every year. This Summer Events Guide to Mont-Tremblant will give you a little something extra to look forward to before you start your Canadian journey, and as always, no matter how you spend your hours every day, coming home to Tremblant Living is destined to bring you the moments you will never forget.
July
Very much firmly embedded in the summer season, July may be your favorite time to visit, especially if you hail from a warmer spot. Offering temperatures that rarely rise above the low 80s, the sun shines often and the rainy season is still a few months away. The events and festivals listed below will bring a touch of joy to your summer explorations of our four-season mountain town.
Tremblant International Blues Festival, 1000 Chemin des Voyageurs, 2nd Week in July
If five days of music, food, and family friendly activities sounds like something that might interest you, planning your Canadian journey to coincide with the Tremblant International Blues Festival, held the second week of July, is probably a good idea. Offering over 100 free shows, the village of Mont-Tremblant becomes even more of a draw during the event. Our children love exploring the kids’ zone, where their faces will be painted, there are arts and crafts to create, and caricaturists are standing by ready to create a masterpiece of a sketch using your child’s face for inspiration. The music is obviously the star of the show, playing hot tunes that will warm up a chilly summer night, giving visitors another reason to attend this fantastic event!
Summer Events in the Village, Various Days in July
The village area of Mont-Tremblant is where everyone wants to be no matter what the season, and although the blues festival you were just reading about is a must-attend event, every day feels like a party. It offers family friendly street performers including Toufou, our friendly mascot who would love nothing more than to shake hands—er, paws—with your littles and pose in a memorable picture with them, plus the balloon art of one of our favorite entertainers, Marc-Ambulles, the beautiful costumes of the flower women, and Dame Nature, who represent the summer season, face painters, and music being performed by some of the most talented musicians in the country, every day is a party in Pedestrian Village and you are invited to attend!
Pool Parties at Home with Tremblant Living
Your favorite times in Mont-Tremblant may just well be the ones you enjoy while hanging out at home in your seasonal sanctuary. July may be the perfect time to enjoy a pool party with your family and at least a few of our chalets offer indoor pools that will enhance your summer trip to our mountain town! Heated in the cooler months, our pools offer the perfect way to chill with family and friends and if you want to take the party to the next level, frothy margaritas sipped while floating on rafts with the mountains standing guard in the background is always a good way to do so.
August
The temperatures begin to drop when you turn the calendar page to August—not by much, just a degree or two—but it is a sign that the season is nearing its natural conclusion. The 8th month of the year is also a big month for events and festivals, cooler days encouraging residents and travelers to get outside as much as possible and the ones listed below are some of our favorites.
Folk Weekend, Place Saint-Bernard 1000 Chemin des Voyageurs
As you might expect, music plays a big part in the celebrations of summer, and the Folk Weekend, held the second week in August, is a perfect example. Taking place over two days, four musical groups will take to the stage at Place Saint-Bernard celebrating the pure and simple beauty of folk music. Bring a lawn chair and soak in the vibe of this type of music, a vibe that can only be described as a friendly one, and let the performances take you away for a couple of nights, enjoying the walk to and from as you chose one of our village escapes to make your home sweet vacation home.
Salsa Tremblant, Pedestrian Village, 3rd Week of August
Salsa Tremblant is a spicy event offering all the ingredients for a good time with its celebration of the sexy Latin dance we all know and love. The streets of Pedestrian Village are transformed into a cultural explosion of food, music, and dance that includes salsa competitions by the best of the best, and this fiesta, so thoroughly different than the one of our own cooler blooded culture, is an event we look forward to every year. Also offering an opportunity to learn to Salsa with their Danse School, teaching salsa lessons for kids, kids Latin hip hop dance, and a Ritmo dance club family lesson, participants will feel free to consume all the Latin food they want knowing they are burning off calories with all the new moves they are learning!
Family Barbecues in the Shadows of the Mountain
We at Tremblant Living firmly believe that there just aren’t enough family barbecues in life, and because not every popular event has to be officially sanctioned by the town of Mont-Tremblant, we encourage you to take every chance you can to enjoy family barbecues in your seasonal sanctuary. Grill the catch of the day you caught while fishing in our lakes and streams, set the outdoor tables, and dine as the sun sets, perhaps losing yourself in the moments when the sky is set on fire. Our sunsets truly are unforgettable and worthy of a toast if you happen to be of the toasting mindset; if not, your gasps of delight are praise enough for Mother Nature!
September
As we march right into the last month of summer, the vibe of Mont-Tremblant changes, the colors become more vibrant, and the excitement we feel about the season we are about to march into speaks to our soul. September in our mountain town is about as perfect a month can be and these exciting events we have listed below will encourage you to make your Canadian journey in this beautiful month.
La Fête De La Musique De Tremblant Directed By Angèle Dubeau
Labor Day Weekend has traditionally been known as the unofficial end to summer, even as the official end date doesn’t arrive for another few weeks, and La Fête De La Musique De Tremblant Directed By Angèle Dubeau celebrates both seasons without any bias. Offering three days of all types of music, from classical to jazz and back again, guests will be able to explore the musical stylings of their favorite artists while being exposed to some of the music world’s newest superstars.
Mont-Tremblant 29029 Everesting, Resort Tremblant, First Week in September
It takes a certain type of person to take part in this fun event, someone who likes to hike and climb, has great endurance, and believes that they can climb 29,029 vertical feet in 36 hours or less. Involving mind, muscles, and quite possibly your spiritual side as you reach some particularly difficult stretches of Mont-Tremblant, the trail you are following features an ascent of more than 2000 feet, bringing with it the best views in town. And because it’s quite obvious that Mont-Tremblant isn’t 29,029 feet high, you may be wondering how you will accomplish your goal. The answer is simple: you climb to the top, ride the gondola down, and repeat until you have reached the magic number, but remember, it has to be completed in 36 hours or less!
Music and Colors, Place Saint-Bernard, Mid-September Through Mid-October
The landscape comes alive with color during this four weeks, and even though there’s only about a week of summer left during this event, it may just be the best week of all. Our Music and Colors Event celebrates fall and all its glorious colors with a series of musical performances held on the weekends, promising to bring all participants an exceptionally good time. As with all of the events listed here, attendees can enjoy the vibe of the mountains, the chill in the air, and quite possibility the thrill of the hunt as you dip in and out of the shops that decorate Pedestrian Village!
Game Nights
The families that play together develop deep and lasting ties, and as some of our Tremblant Living vacation escapes offer game rooms, every night can be game night. We chose September for this event, however, because nights can get cool, even rainy, and there is no better luxury than a night spent gathered around the family table, playing board games (or building puzzles) while feeling warm and cozy. If it is raining, or even snowing (it can and has happened before), you will appreciate the warmth and welcome of our cozy chalets, almost as much as you enjoy these moments of dedicated family time. In many of our properties, guests may find board games or puzzles tucked away somewhere in the spaces and a few even offer fully equipped game rooms, allowing guests to take the party to the next level of competition!
