The town is paved in cobblestone, and no motor vehicles are permitted in the Historic Center District, making Paraty one of the best preserved Colonial towns in the world. The region of Paraty itself is part of the breathtaking costa verde, full of lush rainforests, waterfalls, and memorable views.
Arriving to Paraty from north America and Europe is very accessible: flying directly into Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo and then arriving to Paraty by private plane, boat, or car.
